STATEMENT OF INTENT
I am aiming to create a magazine cover and double page spread based on luxury travel and holidays. I plan to target middle class females aged 16+ who are willing to get bargain deals for holidays and those who focus on the lavish lifestyle of travelling. The magazines unique selling point is that its filled with persuasive language and package deals to help convince them into living the same luxury lifestyle like the model. This will appeal to every one of Britain's AB class females as they can relate to the expensive travel lifestyle (Blumer + Katz personal relationships and identity).
Typography on the cover will employ a hierarchical structure to ensure key information is immediately accessible, thus maximizing reader engagement. The masthead (title), "Voyager," will be prominently displayed at the top in a large, bold font, utilizing a classic serif typeface to convey reliability and authority.
The aspect of mise-en-scene will be used to communicate the ideas about lavish lifestyles which will be prominently displayed in the front cover of my magazine. On the front cover, the white, teenage female will be wearing an expensive skirt and sweater to reinforce the lush lifestyle. The alluring background behind the model will be a silhouette of a pulchritudinous city sky line and sea to appeal to middle class audiences. The models hand will be covering her face to empower the sense of identity and self-image to reinforce the idea that travel is a lifestyle.
In my double spread, I will feature the aspects of both day and night so that the audience can have a feel what each of them feel and look like. This will help create interest and a strong feeling of want as this may make audiences jealous of the lifestyle the model follows. Images of food, skyline and the extraordinary countryside will be showcased to show the majestic skyline, the rich tapestry of local cuisine, and the tranquil beauty of the countryside. Each feature, whether it’s the soaring architecture that outlines the city’s profile, the diverse culinary delights that narrate the cultural heritage, or the serene landscapes that offer a respite from urban life have been carefully chosen to represent the vibrant diversity and dynamic contrasts that the audience cherish.
